Georgia Football had one of the best QB’s in the SEC last season in Jake Fromm. But Athlon Magazine doesn’t rank him in their preseason All-SEC teams.

Can you smell the controversy? It wouldn’t be an offseason article if it wasn’t designed to get fans riled up. At this time of the year, college football writers are doing their very best to provide content to people. I can understand that. Yesterday I wrote about how much I like Tim Tebow just to stem the boredom that comes with there being no football at all in May.

But Athlon Sports really stirred the hornet’s nest this week. They released their preseason All-SEC teams and on the whole, Georgia did rather well. They had 12 players selected to be on the 4 teams that were chosen. That’s more than any other team in the SEC and speaks to the respect the writers have for the team after the 2017 season.

But what stood out to most fans is the man that was left off the list. Jake Fromm was ranked behind Tua Tagovailoa, Drew Lock, Jarrett Stidham and Nick Fitzgerald by the writers. He may have been ranked behind even more QB’s, we don’t know. What we do know is that he didn’t make any of the 4 pre-season teams. That’s going to cause a problem for Dawg fans.

I’ll give the writers Drew Lock. I don’t like the guy, I’m not entirely sure he’s actually that great, but he slings it around. Missouri’s game plan is basically put the ball in his hands and have him throw it 60 times a game and hope that works. It means that unlike the rest of the SEC, his stats are amazing and he’s going to be a senior. I can accept him ahead of Fromm, but the other 3? Sorry Athlon, we need to have a quick talk…
