Stats, analytics, wins, everything should put Fromm on this list:

I can’t figure out why Fromm didn’t make it onto at least one of these teams. Maybe its so Athlon wanted to generate some clicks and have people like me write about it and drive traffic to their site. If so, it certainly seems to have worked.

The only reason I did consider was the Justin Fields arrival. Fields has come in and meant that UGA has an actual position battle happening at QB. Fromm isn’t getting handed anything and he’ll need to get better to win the job. 3 of the 4 guys named here have no competition at all and Tua is seen as the clear favorite.

But no Georgia fan really think Fromm is going to lose this job in 2018. Fields could be the future of the position, but Fromm was statistically great last year. He was 6th in the nation in QBR and 1st in the SEC. He was also 9th in the nation in passing efficiency, behind only Drew Lock in the conference.

This wasn’t a ‘normal’ true freshman. Unlike Tua, he led his team for the entire season to a whisker of a national title. He didn’t play half a game, he won 13 out of 15 and did so putting up historic stats for someone so young.

Next: Chubb and Mayfield will be TV Gold on Hard Knocks

I know that it’s just one magazine, but to me, this omission is a slap in the face to a player who rightly became a household name in 2017. I’m sure it’s not something that Fromm or Kirby Smart will have missed either. After a season that had so much success, this is the kind of fuel that Smart will look for to light a fire under his guys. Not that Fromm is the kind of guy that needs it, but thanks very much Athlon. Give our record-breaking QB a little bit of disrespect and see what that gets the rest of the SEC.
