Georgia Baseball fall out of SEC Tournament with 2 losses
Georgia Baseball lost two games in a row to drop out of the SEC Tournament.
After a great regular season that showed dramatic improvement, the postseason didn’t get off to a good start for the Georgia Baseball team. Having earned a bye in the first round, they dropped their first game against Texas A&M. The Dawgs were taken down by stellar pitching by the Aggies and only registered 3 hits in a 7-0 loss.
They played better against Ole Miss yesterday, but unfortunately, things didn’t go their way. Having been 2-0 down, they came back and tied the game 3-3 in the 8th inning to send the game into extras. Batting first, the Dawgs put a run on the board and just needed to shut down the Rebels to continue in the tournament. Unfortunately, they gave up two and so were knocked out in a 5-4 loss.
It was a disappointing loss for the team. Having played so well all season, they struggled against two teams that they have better records than. However, they will still be going to the postseason, even with this early exit. Georgia should be a top 16 team despite these two losses which will mean that they will be seeded. The disappointment this week likely rule them out from being a top 8 seed, but that matters less under the new format.

Once again, UGA will need to get through a double elimination format. They struggled with that this tournament and will need to improve if they are going to succeed in the NCAA’s. Three game series only begins when we get to the last 16 teams.
