The Georgia Recruiting machine continues to chug along and 5-star linebacker Nakobe Dean seems to be increasingly interested in the Bulldogs.

Recruiting never ends. Even with a dead period approaching for the summer, UGA is still pushing to try and sell some final players on their program. One player who has become a key target for Georgia Recruiting is Nakobe Dean. The nations top ranked inside linebacker on the 24/7 composite, Dean is a wanted man.

He’s been linked to Ole Miss and Alabama for a long time, but UGA has been in the background. New OLB coach Dan Lanning built a great relationship with him while he was in Memphis. He’s become Dean’s primary recruiter since coming to UGA and has them right in the top group.

Jeff Sentell at Dawgnation.com recently did a piece about Dean and his recruitment with Georgia. In it, he points out how Lanning seems to be building a great relationship with the Dean family. Nakobe is a very bright kid who is going to enroll early but will not make a decision until December.

A lot of people think that UGA has prioritized Dean since they missed on Owen Pappoe earlier this month. But the truth is this relationship has been building for some time. Even if Pappoe had committed to UGA, they still would have perused Dean. He’s a special player in his own right.

Lanning and Smart have done a great job getting into the race with Dean. No matter what happens with Pappoe, the Dawgs seem to be in really good shape for one of the best inside LB’s in the country. This story will be one to keep an eye on when we get to the fall.
