The Georgia Baseball team wasn’t punished by the NCAA because of two losses in the SEC Tournament.

The Georgia Baseball team got some good news this Memorial weekend. They were awarded the number 8 seed by the selection committee for this years NCAA tournament. This is the first time the Dawgs have been seeded in 10 years. It will also be their first appearance in the postseason since the 2011 season.

Being in the top 8 is a big deal for the Dawgs. It means that they will be playing at home throughout the tournament if they continue to advance. It gives them the best possible path to the college baseball world series, a place they also have not been for a decade.

The last time the Dawgs reached the world series, they went all the way to the finals where they, unfortunately, lost to Fresno State. This years team isn’t loaded with star power, but they have a real shot to make the final stages of the tournament.

The Dawgs will take on Duke, Troy, and Campbell in their initial pool. Should they advance they will then likely face Texas Tech for a place in the World Series. It’s a difficult round, but not as tough as many others will have. Thanks to the seeding, UGA will not face another top 8 team unless they reach the World Series.

It’s been a big summer for the Dawgs who join the Softball team in the postseason. Those two teams will give Dawg fans something to cheer for over the next couple of weeks, especially if they continue to advance.
