Georgia Football loses Stetson Bennett at Quarterback

Georgia Football has lost the 3rd QB on its roster as Stetson Bennett will be moving on.

Stetson Bennett is a name that has few knew this time last year. But as the season went on, Bennett became the 3rd string QB and a key part of the scout team. In practices, he actually led that unit to beat the UGA defense several times and in doing so, earned a lot of respect in Athens.

Unfortunately, Bennett is a walk-on at Georgia. He was a 2-star recruit who didn’t have the measurables that the likes of Jake Fromm and Justin Fields have. This spring, Bennett played well, but he saw Fields come in and clearly look he’s ready to at least be the number 2 QB. It, therefore, looked very unlikely that Bennett would ever see the field in Athens.

It’s a difficult situation because, by all accounts, Bennett loved being at UGA. It was his dream school and he really wanted to be here, but his position group is just loaded right now. Based off an interview he did with Jeff Sentell of Dawgnation, he will transfer to a JUCO college for 2 years. Then he will look to move to a bigger college in 2 years and start.

It’s a shame that things didn’t work out for Bennett at UGA and he’ll be missed. Georgia will now have to look for a new 3rd QB and that will be challenging. With Fromm and Fields in the fold, it’s highly unlikely anyone else will get many practice reps.

Next: Only 96 days to Kick-off

That conversation will be for later this summer, but for now, we wish Bennett well. He had a great impact during his time at UGA and you can understand why he wants a shot to start. Hopefully, we see him blow it up in the next few years.
