Georgia Football gets prime time slot vs South Carolina
Georgia Football will kickoff its first major game of the 2018 season in prime time when it goes to South Carolina and takes on the Gamecocks.
Georgia Football received some good news this morning. They found out that CBS has scheduled their week 2 game against South Carolina as their prime time game of the week. That means that the game will be live on CBS at 3.30pm and that’s a big win for UGA.
The Dawgs travel to South Carolina on week to to take on the Gamecocks. A lot of experts think that this could be a big trap game for Georgia. With a lot of seniors leaving, Georgia are in a lot of ways rebuilding in 2018. That’s especially true on the defense that will be replacing a lot of players.
South Carolina were therefore expected to be very happy to get UGA so early, especially at home. They will be slightly less happy by this scheduled kick off time. Williams-Brice Stadium can get pretty darn rowdy at night time. With all of the other factors going in SC’s favor, they would have loved to be able to make this a night game. The Dawgs will also take on Florida at 3.30pm as expected later this season.

But that was unlikely to happen. This game really is the only SEC matchup in week 2 that is any good. CBS didn’t really have much choice but to pick the game if they wanted decent rating that week. It helps UGA a lot because that still looks like on of the tougher games on their schedule. Keeping the game at a regular time is a big win for Kirby Smart and his team as they look to repeat as SEC Champions.
