Georgia Football: First players of 2018 class arrive in Athens
Georgia Football saw its team add several 5-star talents when a lot of its 2018 class arrived on campus on Thursday.
It’s that wonderful time of year. While other students are leaving campus and heading home, the new football players are starting to arrive. That means that Georgia Football is about to get a lot better because this group is loaded. While they welcomed an incredibly talented group of early enrollees in January, this is the moment where the team’s roster finally starts to fill out. As they do every year under Kirby Smart, the Dawgs released a short video of some of the prospects arriving. Needless to say, there are some very talented guys in this group.
I spied 3 5-star players in Jamaree Salyer, Tyson Campbell, and Adam Anderson. I’m really happy to see all of those players arrive as early as possible because they could all make an impact ASAP. Campbell, in particular, is important because UGA is still looking for a CB opposite Deandre Baker.
But Salyer and Anderson are also very welcome sights. The Dawgs boast depth at both of their positions but they are both such elite talents. You can see both of them finding a way onto the field and potentially starting if they put everything together in year one. They would both be an immediate day one starter for a lot of programs. At UGA, they are just another talented guy, competing for a spot.
Other players that make an appearance are tight ends Luke Ford and John Fitzpatrick, cornerback Chris Smith and linebacker Channing Tindall. All big-time players finally in Athens and ready to attack the day. It’s an exciting moment for those players but the same is true for us fans. Georgia landed what was comfortably the number 1 recruiting class in the nation in 2018. Now we get to finally see what they can do.
