Georgia Football got its second 2019 commitment of the weekend and this time it’s an offensive tackle.

Kirby Smart and the Georgia Football team continue their recruiting hot streak. They secured a commitment from one of the largest offensive tackles in the 2019 class last night. Xavier Truss, stands at nearly 6ft 8 tall and already weighs close to 350lbs. He is in short, the blueprint for exactly what Sam Pittman likes in his offensive tackles. It’s, therefore, unsurprising to see the Pit-boss get his man.

Pittman continues to crush it on the recruiting trail. After the incredible haul of linemen last year, spots on the o-line are a premium in 2019. The Dawgs will likely take no more than 3 guys and Truss is the first O-lineman to commit to UGA.

Having loaded up on interior offensive linemen the last couple of years, Truss is exactly what UGA needs. Andrew Thomas looks like a 3-and done player and then there are 2 5-stars in Isaiah Wilson and Cade Mays battling it out for the RT spot right now. But behind those guys, the depth chart is actually a bit lacking.

The Dawgs probably need at least one more top-level tackle. Truss is a physical freak but he’s raw. Coming from Rhode Island, he’s not faced great competition and so he’ll take time. He’s very much like Isaiah Wilson in that regard and it’s taken Wilson some time to adapt to Athens and the intensity of the SEC.

Next: 76 days until football

But like Wilson, Truss has everything you want from an offensive tackle in terms of size. Sam Pittman has once again got his man and the Dawgs continue to build a reputation for building in the trenches.
