Georgia Football will be among the programs that chase hard for receiver Demetris Robertson who has announced he is leaving Cal University.

Kirby Smart missed out on Demetris Robertson back in 2016. The nations number 1 wide receiver in that class had always dreamed of attending a prestigious west coast school if he could get in. No matter what Smart did, he couldn’t get Robinson to change his mind and stay in the state back then.

But Smart now has a second chance to bring Robertson to Athens. This afternoon, the receiver announced on Twitter that he would not be returning to California for his Junior season.

Robertson is back home in Savannah and is looking for another school to attend. There have been no reports as to why he has chosen to change schools, but there is a feeling in some circles that he’s just feeling a bit homesick.

In that case, UGA has a tremendous chance to possibly bring the guy they call D-Rob to Athens. Smart was very gracious when Robinson decided to go to Cal, even publically congratulating him on his decision.

The Dawgs recently found a spare scholarship as well after Nadab Joseph had to go to JUCO so they have space for him if he decides to come. He’ll likely have to sit out 2018, but could be ready to go for the 2019 season. Robertson received a medical redshirt in 2017 after breaking out as a freshman for over 750 yards and 7TDs.

The Dawgs were Robertson’s 2nd choice back in 2016. The west coast lure was too much then but Smart now has a second chance. Other schools will be in this, but the Dawgs have a legit chance to land one of the nations top receivers. As if this offense needed any more weapons…
