Georgia Football continues it’s quest for the perfect 2019 class and Makiya Tongue could be the next member.

They say that recruiting never sleeps and that’s true even during the dead period. While UGA cannot have recruits on campus right now, the work never ends. Even though some coaches are on holiday, the Dawgs will keep pushing hard for players. One new name that seems to be cropping up on the Dawg’s board is athlete Makiya Tongue.

The Louisiana native is a freak athlete. Standing at 6-2 and 210lbs, he’s a very physical receiver. Watching his highlights, it’s clear why Kirby Smart and his coaches are suddenly so interested in Tongue. The guy blocks like a freaking beast and goes up and gets the ball. He’s a lot like Jadon Haselwood in that way.

Unlike some fans, I’m not worried about Haselwood coming to UGA. I get that he’s taking visits and that a lot of other teams are chasing him hard. But ultimately, I think he’s a Georgia boy and he’ll stay home. Tongue is not a replacement by any means. He’d be a tremendous compliment who could potentially be a star in UGA’s offense one day.

Next: 67 days until football!!

Tongue’s father Reggie played safety at the NFL for 9 seasons. Makiya has the physicality to play on the defensive side of the ball if recoever doesn’t work out. That versatility seems to be something Kirby Smart and his coaches like according to Dawgnation’s Jeff Sentell. Whatever position he ends up player, Tongue is a player for Georgia fans to keep an eye on for now. He’s expected to make his college decision in September.
