The Georgia Football team missed out on Owen Pappoe a few months ago, but it looks to be in the lead for another top ILB in Rian Davis.

It takes a lot to keep Kirby Smart down on the recruiting trail. After missing on Owen Pappoe in May, the Georgia Football team has moved on to some new inside LB targets. Nakobe Dean remains a key focus for the Dawgs and will continue to be so until signing day in December. However there’s another player that Georgia seem to be associated with right now. That i Rian Davis and he might be the next player to commit to UGA.

While he doesn’t have the ‘5-star name’ of Pappoe, there are no flies on Davis. Coming in at just under 6ft3 and already 230lbs, he’s got he look on an inside thumper. Despite that size, he’s got a tremendous amount of explosiveness, just like a current UGA commit Trezman Marshall. When you watch them on tape, their LB film is pretty similar.

Davis plays at a high level in Florida and there seems to be a lot of momentum right now for him coming to UGA. Anytime you have a guy ranked as the 75th best player in the country trending towards you, that’s a good thing. Davis very much has everything Kirby Smart is looking for, not least position versatility. He played on the DL and at OLB in high school. That ability to move around is something Smart loves.

Things certainly look to be going in the right direction for Davis and Georgia. If he were to join, he’d be an excellent fit in a class that will likely be quite heavy on the defensive front 7. He’s certainly a name for all Georgia fans to know going into this summer.
