Georgia Football got a big time commitment from a massive human being a few weeks ago in offensive tackle Xavier Truss from Rhode Island.

I’ve said it a few times, but Sam Pittman is a boss. Georgia Football has some great recruiters on staff, but few of them close like the Pitt-Boss. Having brought in what might well be the best offensive line class ever in 2018, he just keeps on going.

Now nobody thinks that this years group will have the depth or talent of last years. With 2 straight insane OL classes, UGA is now stacked up deep with 5-stars, particularly on the inside. But they could do with some more help at tackle, especially with Andrew Thomas looking like a potential 3-and-out player.

Enter Xavier Truss, the latest player to commit to the Georgia Bulldogs in the 2019 class. An absolute monster of a human being Truss might actually be even bigger than current right tackle Isaiah Wilson right now. 24/7sports has him listed at 6ft7.5 and 350lbs. That is a ridiculously large high school player and its one of the reasons why he’s the state of Rhode Islands top ranked recruit.

Now when you you watch his film, there are a couple of things you notice. Firstly, it should probably be illegal for him to play football in a state like Rhode Island. This isn’t the south east here, people are not built like that up in the north east and it shows in his film. It’s really not fair watching him play against guys like that.

That low level of competition is similar to what Wilson had in Brooklyn and his film is similar. What’s a bit different is how freaking nasty Truss is. I’m on record about how much that’s something I like to see in an offensive lineman and Truss delivers. I know he’s taking on smaller guys, but he doesn’t just block then, he pile drives them every chance he gets.

I’d probably rather he didn’t end up on the floor quite so much and no doubt Pittman will work on that, but good lord does he like to take people down. Nobody wants their kid to be a bully. But, football fans absolutely want their offensive linemen to be just that. Put on the film and watch him. Truss is basically mugging these kids and running off with their lunch money. The only thing his film lacks is a cackling evil laugh to go along with it.

Truss isn’t some super polished kid who will come in and start day one, at least not from what I can see. He’s behind  Cade Mays in that regards for sure. But in terms of a mound of clay that Pittman can mold? Oh hell yes, this is the blueprint right here. Truss will take some time, but Pittman just keeps restocking the cupboard on his offensive line. Players like this almost make me feel sorry for SEC East defensive lines some days… I did say almost right?
