Georgia Football head coach Kirby Smart invited his freshmen class out to his lakehouse this past weekend and they had a lot of fun.

Seems like Kirby Smart likes to have fun. Last week, we learned that sophomore QB Jake Fromm broke his non-throwing hand when he was on a lake vacation. Since then, there have been some pundits and fans suggesting that Fromm shouldn’t have put himself in that situation. They’ve also implied that Kirby Smart needs to wrap his players in cotton wool.

Smart doesn’t seem to be listening to that mindset. Instead, he took his freshman class to his families lakehouse this past weekend and they had some fun. The Dawgs put out a video this morning to accompany it and its actually pretty fun:

It’s a good bit of marketing from Smart. He’s showing the world that he’s not going to let an accident with one of his star change him. I can imagine that this is the sort of thing that the class of 2019 will be looking forward to when they arrive in Athens. Sure there will be a lot of hard work as well, but there are opportunities to have fun as well.

Next: 52 days until football!

It’s a clever response to the Fromm injury. It’s also important for these freshmen who are about to enter their first college football camp. Once we get to August, the time for having fun and boating will officially be over and they’re going to be entering a grind that will least 5 months.  It’s good that they’ve had a chance to enjoy some time with Smart and each other before that. The long slog is just a couple of weeks away.
