Six championships

Speaking of Clyde Berryman, he also named the 8-0-1 1920 Bulldogs as champions. The media guide makes no mention of this title, yet it’s in the NCAA record book. Maybe the school hasn’t been told about this one yet. This championship didn’t begin to appear in the NCAA Record Book until 2013.

This one’s weird. Does it count or not? It’s in the record book, but Georgia doesn’t claim it in any way. I’ll leave that for someone else to decide.

Next: Georgia, Auburn and the college football Mecca of Atlanta

So, when someone asks you how man National Championships Georgia football has what should you say? If I’m asked, I’ll probably say five, but two are bigger than the others. If the asker has time, I’ll go into a little detail and mention what the official record book says.

But it’s better to be the popular choice for National Champion so that’s why Georgia only flies flags for two. Instead of worrying about how many titles Georgia has won in the past, the program is looking forward to winning more in the future. And thanks to the College Football Playoff, the one’s we will win will all be undisputed.
