Georgia Football lands second commitment of the night

ATLANTA, GA - DECEMBER 02: Terry Godwin
ATLANTA, GA - DECEMBER 02: Terry Godwin

Having landed John Emery earlier in the day, Georgia Football received a commitment from a second highly ranked prospect in a day, this time from Makiya Tongue.

The commits just keep on coming. No sooner had I finished an article about them receiving a commitment from highly ranked running back John Emery Jr, the Dawgs had another one. This time it’s from athlete Makiya Tongue. Just like Emery, Tongue is from Louisiana which means that the Dawgs have pulled two players from the Bayou State.

The 4-star player could end up at one of several positions in Athens. Based on his size and explosiveness, he could have a future in several positions on the defensive side of the ball. Tongue has the frame to play safety or the star cornerback position.

However, by the sounds of it, it is likely that his future at Georgia lies on the other side of the ball. Tongue has mentioned to Jeff Sentell at Dawgnation in previous reports that Tongue wants to start off at receiver in Athens. With two 5-stars in the class right now in Dominick Blaylock and Jadon Haselwood, Tongue will make a nice final piece to that position group for this class.

He’s a big and strong player who clearly has the ability to go up and get the ball. He’s going to bring size and explosiveness to the position and from a physical perspective, reminds me a bit of Jeremiah Holloman. Guess that means I have two new commits for me to dive into from a film perspective on Monday. Well, that certainly should make for a fun morning’s work!
