In short, UGA is LOADED:
Honestly, I can’t really believe how much talent we’re talking about right now at this one position group. Going into the 2019 season, UGA will have three 5-star talents at the position and four players that were easily top 150 guys in their classes. All of them will have the ability to play at a high level for a long time on Sundays. That’s SEVEN pass rushers who could start for most teams in America.
Good lord, I almost feel bad for the opposition. Seriously, how on earth are you supposed to defend against this? Seven guys, each slightly different coming at you from all over the defense. I have no idea how on earth you’re supposed to keep the QB upright, to be honest. That is frankly insane.
All of which is exactly what Kirby Smart is looking for. During his first couple of years in Georgia, Smart never really had ‘pure pass rushers’ that he could rely on to just go out there when he needed them. Bellamy and Carter both had incredible moments in 2017, but neither had the sort of talent these guys do. Just think about the sort of packages Mel Tucker can run with guys like this.
Bellamy and Carter did however set the standard and that shouldn’t be forgotten. The concept of a UGA ‘Wolfpack’ came into existence because of those two and the guys stepping in are following in their footsteps. Current NFL stars Jordan Jenkins and Lenard Floyd did the same and so the path to UGA become Pass Rusher U has in some ways already been laid.
One thing is for sure if even half of these recruits work out, Georgia is going to be terrifying for most of college football. It’s also going to be known for producing a lot more than just running backs.
