Georgia football: Decision day for JUCO cornerback D.J. Daniel
Junior College cornerback D.J. Daniel is going to announce where he plans on continuing his college career today. Georgia football is one of the teams he’s considering.
Today could be another big day for Georgia football. One of the top junior college players in the nation, D.J. Daniel, is set to commit to one of three schools today at 2:00 p.m. on the Georgia Military College campus.
Daniel, a player who was not highly recruited out of Spalding High School in the class of 2017, became a JUCO star for the Bulldogs in Milledgeville last season. He intercepted three passes, made five breakups and completed 26 tackles.
After a big 2017 season, 247 Sports ranked him no. 5 out of all JUCO players in the nation and no. 2 out of all JUCO cornerbacks. He’s also the no. 1 JUCO star in the state of Georgia. His commitment to the Bulldogs will definitely move Georgia back to no. 1 in the recruiting rankings for 2019.
The other two schools Daniel is considering are Kentucky and South Carolina. Not the group you’d expect for such a highly-touted recruit, but that’s who he’s slimmed his recruitment down to. His list is likely compiled of teams that he can start at immediately.
With DeAndre Baker exhausting his eligibility after this season, a spot will open up for players to compete for. Daniel, with his talent, honed in skills and extra year of maturity over the players he’ll compete with, will enter Georgia as the frontrunner to take over for Baker.

The announcement isn’t too public or private. Don’t expect ESPN or any HD video of the event. But media will be present, so expect to know about the decision as soon as he makes it.
