With just one weekend between now and the first game of the season, the many position battles going on with the Georgia Football team are coming to an end.

With the scrimmage last weekend now behind us, it’s safe to say that its time for the Georgia Football coaches to start to make some decisions. The Dawgs now have less than two weeks until the first game of the season and the battles for starting spots are starting to end.

While the Dawgs will always practice hard with Kirby Smart at the helm, a lot of decisions will have been made after Saturday’s practice. One was forced upon them after Zamir White’s unfortunate knee injury. But others are starting to make sense as the coaches have a clear idea of who can do what, at least for now.

So here are a few position groups that look settled going into the Austin Peay game. Now that doesn’t mean there won’t be changes as the season goes on, but right now, these groups look relatively set for week one.

QB Plan to get ironed out:

Jake Fromm is going to be the starter. That’s not going to be a surprise to anybody and that includes Justin Fields. The coaches gave both QB’s a shot to win the job for the past 6 or so months and while Fields has impressed, Fromm has improved from last season. What the coaches need to do now is figure out their plan for Fields. He’s going to get playing time early because he’s the only other scholarship QB on the roster.

The Dawgs need him to be ready to play if something happens to Fromm. They will also want to use his athletic ability in certain looks so that’s something else they need to iron out before week one. Over the next few weeks, Jim Chaney and James Coley will be figuring out what that plan looks like. I for one hope that it means we see a good deal of the freshman in week one.
