Georgia Football defeats Austin Peay 45-0
The Georgia Football team started their 2018 season with a big win against Austin Peay.
The Georgia Football team had a lot to prove today. Yes, they were taking on a lower level program in Austin Peay, but the fact is that you can only beat what is put in front of you. It’s safe to say that the dawgs certainly did that.
The Dawgs went into half time up 38-0 thanks to some incredible play on the offensive side. While Jake Fromm got the start, Kirby Smart decided to give Justin Fields a couple of series in the first half, both of which led to scores. Demetris Robertson scored on a 72 yard end around in the longest play of the first half that pretty much summed up the half. When Georgia wanted to score, they did.
After throwing for 157 yards on 12 passes and 2 touchdowns, Fromm was pulled. That gave the Dawgs a great chance to give Fields a lot of experience. He spent several drives getting familiar with the offense and fans like myself had a real chance to get excited. He scored his first touchdown as a Bulldog on a throw to Issac Nauta and in general looked in control of the offense. Fields finished the day having completed 7 passes for 63 yards and a TD. He also ran for 33 yards and showed that his speed really translated to Saturdays. You know your offense is playing well when the 3rd string QB is playing in the 3rd quarter…
On the other side of the ball, Tyson Campbell started at cornerback across from Deandra Baker and looked good. He’ll be going up against better cornerbacks next week, but he certainly looked ready to go this week.
Th Dawgs closed put the game to shut out the Governors. Now they will face a bigger test when they take on the Gamecocks of South Carolina next week.
