5: D’Andre Swift and Mecole Hardman look ready to become stars

While it was great to see some young players step up and impress, two starters really stood out to me yesterday. Mecole Hardman and D’Andre Swift are players that many expect to have big years in 2018. Both of them showed with just a few touches how right those expectations were.

Hardman wasn’t as involved in the special teams game as expected. Instead, the Dawgs saved him for the offense and boy did he impress there. He had just two catches but on his touchdown run, it was obvious just how dangerous he could be in the middle of the field. We talked about D-Rob being fast earlier, well Mecole looks just as quick.

D’Andre Swift was pulled from the game pretty early yesterday. Before that happened, he looked back to his best from last year. Whether it was in the running or passing game, Swift has the ability to find space and make big gains. You could just tell that as the games get bigger, his workload and impact is going to increase. I just don’t see how he’s not challenging for All-SEC honors by the end of the year.

The Dawgs are loaded with weapons on offense in a way that few teams are. Yesterday we saw constant rotation that allowed a lot of them to take time off and rest. However, next week, we’ll likely see more of these two who look ready to explode onto the big stage this season. It’s going to be a heck of a lot of fun to watch that’s for sure.
