Georgia football played a great game against Austin peay Saturday, winning 45-0. The Bulldogs recorded their first week one shutout in 15 years.

It is hard to find reasons to complain about Saturday’s effort as a fan. Georgia football totally whipped the Austin Peay Governors. The game was never close, the Bulldogs scored on their first six drives. The only scoreless possession of the first half was when they kneeled out the clock to enter the locker room for halftime.

What went right

Obviously in a 45-0 victory, mostly everything went right for the Dawgs. But here are a few highlights from Saturday that stood out the most.

Spreading the wealth

11 players recorded at least one carry for positive yardage, and 11 players caught at least one pass. In total, 19 players recorded a touch Saturday. And it’s not like the bulk of those touches came from the third and fourth-string players who appeared in the second half.

The main four running backs accounted for 29 touches, 195 yards and two touchdowns. The top four wide receivers recorded eight touches, 188 yards and three touchdowns. Meanwhile, the two tight ends caught one pass each and Isaac Nauta scored a touchdown. All six of Georgia’s touchdowns were scored by different players.

How do you prepare for that? Keep in mind, Terry Godwin likely returns this week for the South Carolina game. Can’t load the box or pay too much attention to the flats, or else you risk Mecole Hardman or Riley Ridley making a big catch. Can’t crowd passing lanes, because then the running backs will have a field day.

Saturday might have just been a sample. But it’s clear, if Georgia executes to the best of their abilities on offense, they will score a ton of points this year.
