Georgia Football went into Columbia and got a big win over a South Carolina team many expected to win. Here are our five takeaways from the game.

1: Georgia Football has changed a lot under Kirby Smart

We’re a long way from Kansas now people. Just three years ago, Georgia Football fans would have felt a lot of fear going into this football game. A ranked rival, at their place, early in the season, all factors that should have counted against Dawgs. But the days of UGA being underprepared seem to be over now that Kirby Smart is at the helm. What we saw yesterday was a damn buzzsaw.

Jake Fromm said after the match that ‘somebody had to pay‘ for all of the preparation that the Dawgs did this past week. That statement shows the difference between Georgia now and before Kirby Smart arrived. Georgia players worked their behinds off preparing for this game. They sure as heck weren’t going to let a few mitigating factors get in their way.

All week, we saw two very different teams. While South Carolina and their players were talking trash, Georgia’s stayed focused upon their own game. Even after the win, only Deandre Baker had much to say other than it was a great team win. He was also the only player that was personally disrespected by SC, so he deserves some latitude.

But other than that, the Dawgs continued in their businessman like manner. They sent out their tweets about the team and they moved on. Each week, this squad is increasingly behaving like professionals which is exactly what Kirby Smart is trying to accomplish. Even beating down a rival that was a trendy upset pick at their place isn’t remarkable to these players. It’s expected and that is exactly what you want to see if you’re a Georgia fan.
