With week one of the NFL now in the books, let’s take a quick look at some former Georgia Bulldogs who showed out.

There are plenty of former Georgia Bulldogs starting on Sundays. With the NFL kicking off this weekend, we got to see several of our former favorites on the field again. Here’s a quick look at which Bulldogs stood out and impressed in the first week of the season.

As per usual, Todd Gurley showed out on Monday night. The Rams running back accounted for 147 yards and a touchdown against the Oakland Raiders. Once again it looks like the Rams will run through Gurley in 2018. They’ll continue to be a trendy Superbowl pick if the former Dawg can keep scoring TD’s like this:

There were a few former Dawgs who were making their debut in the NFL. Lorenzo Carter may not have had a tackle in his first game, but he looked active and earned positive reviews despite a New York Giants loss. After lighting up the preseason, Javon Wims, unfortunately, couldn’t get a catch in his debut as the Bears lost to the Packers. Speaking of the Bears, Roquan Smith made his long-awaited debut for Chicago and the NFL finally got to see what all the fuss was about:

Despite not having a preseason or training camp due to a contract dispute, it pretty clear that Roquan is going to dominate on Sundays. Sony Michel and Isaiah Wynn both didn’t suit up for the New England Patriots. Wynn is out for the season and Michel is battling a knee injury. The later is expected to return next week after an injury to Jeremy Hill.

Michel’s former partner in crime in Athens Nick Chubb, however, has a new jersey number as well as his first three NFL carries. Chubb changed to number 24 after wearing 31 during the preseason and did well in his limited role. He only received three carries but accounted for 21 yards. The one below showed what Chubb can do when given opportunities.

How could we do this column without AJ Green? Considered by many (including myself) to be the NFL’s best receiver, Green got his season off to a bad start when a rare fumble stalled a Cincinnati Bengals drive. He made up for that though with this touchdown that helped them come back to win at the Indianapolis Colts.

Two other former Dawgs made an impression against the Colts. Geno Atkins was, as usual, an absolute menace on the defensive line. He accounted for three tackles and a sack and helped keep Andrew Luck from winning the game. Shawn Williams had a less good game when he was ejected in the 1st half for targeting after he tackled Luck. Probably not the impact he was hoping for in week one.

Next. Rodrigo named as SEC special teams player of the week. dark

Alex Ogletree made his debut for the Giants after he was traded to them earlier this season. He accounted for seven tackles to lead the team although he did struggle a bit in pass coverage. Justin Houston was limited in the first game of the season for the Kansas City Chiefs. He accounted for a tackle and will hopefully get a larger role in week two.
