Georgia Football will have a chance to blood some youth this week when they take on Middle Tennessee.

After a big victory over a ranked foe last Saturday, Georgia Football has a very different game coming this week. Middle Tennessee is not going to be a joke by any means. However, the Dawgs have considerably more talent than them so they should have a chance to rest some starters. That means that for a second time this season, we will likely have the opportunity to see some of the young players that joined UGA the last two seasons. Here are a few different players that we’re really hoping get to see significant snaps this week:

Terrific chance for Fields to grow:

We didn’t get much of a chance to see Justin Fields this past week. Well, we did, but Kirby Smart was trying to be kind to his longtime friend Will Muschamp. Fields was on the field for most of the fourth quarter but rather than run up the score, The Dawgs ran down the clock. We saw Fields run once and throw one pass. Other than that, he simply handed the ball off to his running backs and relaxed.

This week should be different. In Week one, we saw Fields on five drives against Austin Peay. This week I would think we see the same if not even more work for the Georgia backup. Fields is not going to overtake Jake Fromm as the starter this year. However, he does need to get experience in case something happens to Georgia’s QB1.

Watching his game tape again from week one, I remain convinced that Fields is going to have a role in the offense as the season goes on. There was no need to bring him in last week. The Dawgs were in control of the game and so they didn’t need his running or passing ability in the game.

I trust Kirby, but I don’t believe him when he says that he doesn’t have a plan for Justin Fields in every game. He always talks about preparation and I just don’t think someone with that mentality plays fast and loose with their offense. The Dawgs have several plans for their QB’s in each game and the situation dictates which one they use. This week, the game should give Fields a chance to see more live action and continue to improve and develop. It should make for a very exciting game to watch for fans that’s for sure.
