Young weapons get a chance to grow:

With the Dawgs mauling SC on the ground last week, we didn’t get to see too much of the younger UGA weapons. Demetris Robertson wasn’t targeted and James Cook only came in and played after the game was sealed. Both of those players looked fantastic in week one when they touched the ball. I think we’ll likely see Georgia again look to get both of those players and others some more work this week.

Mecole Hardman had a great game last week, but I don’t know if I’d expect more of the same against Middle Tennessee. UGA identified a big weakness in SC’s scheme last week which is why they kept attacking. The Gamecocks never adjusted to the simple screen passes UGA ran and so they kept going back to them and succeeding. This week, I think we’ll instead see the Dawgs spread the ball around a bit more.

It might be Robertson and Cook, but there are a few other names to keep an eye on. Jeremiah Holloman is one in particular that looks primed to break out at some point. His blocking has really improved this season and he’s starting to get on the field a bit more than last season. Holloman is an explosive athlete who has impressed in both of the last 2 spring games. He could be ready to see a few more throws in a game like this.

I also wonder if we might see Terry Godwin get a few targets early. He’s been working his way back from an injury and so you might expect him to sit this game out. However, I think it could be a good chance to work him in a bit and build him up to more playing time over the next few weeks. We’ll have to see which plan the Dawgs will take with him.
