The secondary has a few kinks to work out:

Last but not least the secondary. This might be the youngest but most talented part of Georgia’s football team if everything breaks right. The Dawgs have Deandre Baker locking down one side of the field and they have JR Reed a solid safety. Other than that, UGA is all speed, youth, and promise on the back end of their defense.

They still have some work to do. Tyson Campbell looked like a true freshman this past week. He spent most of the game trying to keep Bryan Edwards in check and at times he struggled. Now he didn’t do badly when you consider his youth and that he was taking on a legit Junior who has over 1500 yards in his career so far. But more experience isn’t going to be a bad thing for Campbell who will have other top receivers to cover as the year carries on.

The same can also be said for other young CB’s. Eric Stokes has impressed the coaching staff and he has incredible raw speed. However, that hasn’t translated onto the field yet so this week could be a chance for him to see the field some more. The same is true for Mark Webb as well who seems to have been overtaken by Campbell so far. This week, he could have a chance to play in Bakers spot and get some more reps.

Then there the are safety and STAR spots. Richard LeCounte impressed in his first two games of the year. But the likes of DeAngelo Gibbs and Otis Reece also have a chance to see the field more and improve. Those are two players who could potentially become starters if they put their talent together so this will be a big week for both of them.
