Georgia Football secured a real weapon when they Demetris Robertson transferred to the school. Could this be the week he shows what all the fuss is about?

With the Georgia Football team moving the kickoff for their game to noon on Saturday, the Dawgs will get their third game of the season out of the way quicker than expected. Middle Tennessee is not predicted to put up a huge challenge to UGA. Having crushed South Carolina last week, the Dawgs clearly have the ability to put this game away early. They also have the chance to blood some new young players in a match they are expected to win.

We’ve looked at some of the players who could stand out this week. However, one player that I think deserves to be on the ‘to watch list’ is Demetris Robertson. Having come in and scored a 72-yard touchdown on his first touch as a Georgia Bulldog in week one, Robertson was very quiet last weekend. Contrary to what some might think, that wasn’t because he didn’t see the field. I saw him out there quite a bit. It was the situation of the game that led to the Dawgs leaning on their running game so Robertson and most of the other receivers ended up just doing a lot of blocking.

We saw with that touchdown just how dangerous Robertson could be when he touches the ball. I was also impressed with his blocking last week. He seems to be improving on that element of his game. That’s going to help him see the field a little more each week as the season goes on.

I can’t help wondering when Georgia will decide that he’s ready to break out. Will it be this week against a team that they know they can dominate? Some teams would rather hold a player like Robertson back a week before a tough game against Missouri. Is UGA one of those teams?

I don’t think Kirby Smart and the UGA coaches think like that. It’s not like other coaches don’t know that they have these players. Those opponents have to watch a lot of film and plan on how they are going to stop all of them. If D-Rob is ready to see an extended role in this offense, the Dawgs will take him off the leash and give Missouri’s defensive coaches a sleepless few nights. The real question, is could this be the week?

Next. Other players to watch this week. dark

I’m not sure, but it’s certainly a reason to watch the Middle Tennessee game. Robertson might be the most exciting player on this entire roster. Considering the other talent, that’s saying a lot, but it’s true. Maybe it’s tomorrow, maybe it’s not for another few weeks, but at some point, D-Rob is going to break out. When he does, the entire of College football is going to be put on notice. He’s just that good.
