Georgia football hosts the Vanderbilt Commodores tonight at 7:30. The Dawgs will try to work out their offensive issues against Vandy.

It’s about time to tee it up between the hedges. Georgia football begins play with the Vanderbilt Commodores tonight at 7:30 on the SEC Network. Georgia hopes to improve their record to 6-0 and 4-0 in SEC play.

Jake Fromm and Justin Fields

After last week, it’s clear that Georgia will start using its quarterbacks in tandem. And both guys seem okay with that. Kirby Smart and the offensive staff have done a great job getting both to buy into the dual QB system, because it gives the Dawgs their best chance of winning.

Jake Fromm, I expect will have a better night against Vanderbilt. Not to say he played poorly against Tennessee, receivers didn’t help him on three would-be touchdowns. But that’s a chemistry issue. And I would be shocked if those issues persisted another week. These receivers want a championship, and they know that they need to be on the same page with Fromm to win a championship.

Great passing game or not, Justin Fields still needs to see as much use as possible until Georgia’s offensive line returns to near-full health. His running threat gives defenses something else to think about, which buys space for him and Georgia’s running backs.

Elijah Holyfield

Until Georgia’s offensive line gets healthy, Elijah Holyfield will be the no. 1 back. His power is the equalizer. He’s tough to put down at the line of scrimmage, but he’s small enough to fit through small gaps. That makes him the most certain big-play threat in Georgia’s backfield.

Every wide receiver

Back to the passing game. If these guys help their quarterback out, Georgia will put up a ton of points. Right now, Riley Ridley and Mecole Hardman have the best chemistry, so I’d expect them to shine the most. But Terry Godwin is a veteran, and a leader, and he’s hungry for more wins before his time as a Bulldog is over. He knows he’s better than the missed pass he had last week, that’s not a mistake he’ll repeat.

D’Andre Walker

Until D’Andre Walker stops sacking SEC quarterbacks, he’s going to stay on this list. He has four sacks in 2018, all against SEC teams. I doubt he’ll end today’s game without a sack. I wouldn’t be surprised if he had multiple sacks against a Vanderbilt offense.
