Tyson Campbell, Cornerback:

At this point, it’s pretty clear what every teams plan is when throwing the ball. Put different receivers on the left side of the field and go after Tyson Campbell. See which ones cause him trouble and then try to keep attacking him with those same players.

That plan isn’t because Campbell isn’t good. It’s because Deandre Baker is on the other side of the field and he is one of the best CBs in college football. Throwing at the Georgia defenses right side isn’t happening very much because with Baker there, it doesn’t really work. You’re as likely to get picked off as you are to see a catch and so I’d expect a conservative team like LSU to stay away from him for pretty much the entire game.

That means a lot of targets for Campbell. The freshman has seen a lot of that this season and he’s done a solid job. He’s not in Bakers class and that’s to be expected, but he’s already a good corner. The guy is not a liability which is really impressive when you consider how inexperienced he is.

I’ve noticed that Campbell hasn’t had a bad game yet since arriving in Athens. He’s actually got a little bit better every week and that’s a great sign for Georgia. If he has a good game, it’s hard to see how LSU can move their offense through the air. They could attack the Nickel spot, but if the outside receivers cant make plays, UGA should be able to win the game. That’s why Campbell is so important this week.
