Monty Rice

Monty Rice has drawn comparisons to Roquan Smith, and while Rice clearly isn’t at that level yet, each week he shows more and more what kind of star he can be for the Dawgs in the future. The Kentucky game might have been his best of the year with eight tackles and one sack.

As an inside linebacker, he was given the difficult task of slowing down the Wildcats running back Benny Snell. Judging by Snell’s mere 73 rushing yards. I’d say Rice did his job very well. The sack was also a welcomed play. That’s his first of 2018.

Jonathan Ledbetter

Jonathan Ledbetter also needed a great game to help shutdown Snell. And he also succeeded. Kentucky struggled to block him all afternoon and he disrupted the Wildcats offense, even making two tackles in the backfield with one being a sack. His biggest play of the night was his last, a hit in the backfield that caused a game clinching fumble.

D’Andre Walker

Interior players were asked to slow down Snell, while the coaches asked D’Andre Walker to contain Terry Wilson and he did a great job at that. Walker didn’t make a sack, but he kept Wilson in the pocket and limited which directions he could run. Which led to four other Dawgs combining to make four sacks.
