Georgia Football got a hard-fought win over Auburn this weekend but what was most impressive was how much better the team is getting each week.

When you go back and rewatching the victory over Auburn yesterday, one thing really stands out. This Georgia Football team is improving all over the field compared to earlier in the season. While there are some issues that need to be worked out, the fact remains that UGA is getting better as every week goes by. Considering the challenge that awaits them in three weeks, that couldn’t be happening at a better time.

This Auburn team is not great. However, the might be the second-best team the Dawgs have played this season behind LSU. I’d pick them to win over Florida and Kentucky despite their ugly loss to Tennessee earlier this year. They also came into this game highly motivated. This is probably going to be the final season for a lot of their best players. Derrick Brown and Jarrett Stidham had one final chance to end their Tiger careers with winning records over one of their biggest rivals. Instead, they went home defeated.

Georgia did not play the perfect game and there is a lot of work for them to still do. The defense struggled at times against the run. It’s linebackers and secondary players continue to miss too many tackles and it’s receivers had some bad drops. That being said, it’s finally starting to look like the team that many expected coming into the season.

Justin Fields had the most playing time we have seen in a big game so far and while he struggled a bit, it finally looked like the coaches have figured out how they are going to use him and Jake Fromm. More importantly, it looked like both Fromm and Fields were comfortable in their roles. They are also being supported by a running game that quite frankly could be the best in the country. D’Andre Swift looks like a superstar and Elijah Holyfield grinds down defenses just like Nick Chubb. The offensive line is getting better as each week passes as it gets healthier and nothing is going to be more important before taking on Alabama in Atlanta.

I still don’t expect the Dawgs to overcome a Bama team that legitimately looks unbeatable. However, more and more young players are making their mark on this team which gives me so much confidence for 2019 and beyond. You also never know what can happen in one game on a neutral field. Four weeks ago, UGA’s fanbase was tearing itself apart after the LSU loss and clamoring for a QB change. Now, their team looks the best it has all season and it’s got at least two more games to get even better. There are still some kinks to work out but it’s not hard to see that this team’s best football is ahead of them. That should make for a very exciting final four (or please five) games to the season.
