Georgia Football needs its best players to step up if it’s going to beat Alabama tomorrow and that means that D’Andre Swift is going to be critical.

One of the best things to come out of the past month of Georgia football has been the health and play of D’Andre Swift. After starting off the season a step slower than he was last year, Swift has come into his own against Georgia’s toughest opponents. He rushed for over 100 yards against Florida, Kentucky, Auburn, and Georgia Tech. He did that while averaging less than 15 touches a game. Georgia is going to need him to step up and have the game of his life this week if they’re going to get the win.

Georgia needs to be able to control the clock and keep the explosive Alabama offense off the field. The best way to do that is going to be by running the ball and for that, Swift is key. Elijah Holyfield is going to get just as many carries as Swift, but it’s the latter who is so important. Swift has the explosive moves that can open up a defense and tire out linebackers. Those moves enable Holyfield to find a little extra room when he’s running.

Swift also has the home run ability to score from anywhere. Against Kentucky, Swift hit home run after home run to end their SEC East challenge. He then did the same to Auburn, just like he had in this game last season. We saw in the championship game last year that Sony Michel caused the Alabam defense some difficulties. Swift has those same skills and is even more explosive in space. In that way, he could be the key for Georgia to keep the ball moving and away from Tua.

Next. Some other offensive players to watch. dark

This is the biggest game of Swift’s young career and he won’t be going into it alone. He’ll have a strong offensive line to run behind as well as a great running mate in Holyfield. That being said if Swift can put together a performance as he did against Kentucky and Auburn, the Dawgs have a real shot to win this one. It’s not going to be easy against perhaps the best defense in the country, but that’s what this will take. They will have to play their best game of the season and that means Swift has got to be the best he’s ever been.
