The time has finally come. Georgia will look to defend its SEC Championship crown on Saturday against the undefeated Alabama Crimson Tide. Can the Dawgs pull off the upset?

Despite being ranked fourth in the most recent College Football Playoff rankings, the Georgia Football team is nearly a two-touchdown underdog this weekend against Alabama. Georgia will try to win back-to-back conference championships on Saturday and punch the team’s ticket to another berth in the College Football Playoff.

If Georgia can find a way to win this game, it will be an upset for the ages. Not many people outside of Athens, Georgia think the Dawgs can win this game. But Georgia can win this game, and will win this game.

Alabama has rolled through every opponent it has faced this season but Georgia will present a challenge to the Crimson Tide in two ways. First, Georgia is better on offense than any other team Alabama has faced this season. Second, Georgia’s pass defense is the best Alabama will have faced all year as well.

Combine all of that with a Georgia team looking for revenge after what happened in last year’s National Championship Game against Alabama and you are looking at a recipe for success. Even if Alabama wins this game, I guarantee it will be the toughest test they have had all season.

If Georgia can run the football effectively in this game, the Dawgs will have a real shot at pulling out a victory. But if the Dawgs are forced to be a one-dimensional passing team, then it will be a long afternoon for Georgia fans inside Mercedes-Benz Stadium.

Kirby Smart will have his team ready to play in this game. Gone are the days when Georgia would psychologically crumble when playing superior opponents. This program is now a perennial college football powerhouse that should not be intimidated by no team, not even Alabama. With the college football world watching, Georgia will steal this game from Alabama and win a second consecutive SEC title.

Prediction: Georgia 31, Alabama 27
