Georgia football will play tomorrow without their start cornerback Deandre Baker, but even though he’s missing the Sugar Bowl, he’s done his University proud.

Some Georgia football fans have criticized Deandre Baker this past week. After winning the Jim Thorpe award for the best defensive back a few weeks ago, Baker has changed his mind and decided not to play in the Sugar Bowl tomorrow. He did that despite saying on stage that he was going to play one last time with his teammates. That’s rubbed a few people the wrong way and so now some are upset. It’s pretty much the only chance they’ve had to say anything bad about him the last 2 seasons.

In those seasons, Baker hasn’t allowed a single receiver to score a touchdown against him. Not one. Think about how insane that is. In that time, he’s taken on Alabama twice, Notre Dame, LSU, Missouri’s highly regarded pass catchers. None of them have scored against him. That’s ridiculous. It’s the reason why he’s right to sit out the game tomorrow.

Baker did the right thing and came back for his senior season. He could have been a day 2 draft pick but came back to give his team one last year. He was a key part of one of the best teams in the country. Now it’s time for him to finally get paid for his skills.

Who to watch out for tomorrow. dark. Next

In a few months, Baker is going to be a top 15 pick. When that happens, he’ll represent UGA and the program with the same level of excellence he has on the field the past two seasons. Those who are upset with him are missing the fact that few players have given as much to the G as Baker has. He’s a DGD that we can all cheer on at the next level no matter who drafts him and his decision to skip this final game doesn’t change that one bit.
