Worst case

Admingly, the worst case scenario isn’t that bad. With 23 players already signed and one player still just committed, Georgia isn’t going to lose any top prospects. Actually, Georgia’s average would increase if Plumlee decommitted since his 247Sports Composite score is lower than Georgia’s current average.

But he still would be a big loss. Georgia needs young quarterbacks right now, and without a top-10 passer signing this year, the Dawgs need someone to compete with Dwan Mathis to make each other better. But Mathis’ signing, Georgia’s small usage of dual threat QB Justin Fields, and Stetson Bennett’s return may be enough to sway Plumlee to go elsewhere.

In this scenario, Georgia fails to sign any notable players on signing day. Instead, Elam goes to Florida, giving them their second top 50 player. George Pickens stays with Auburn or flips to LSU or Tennessee, giving our SEC rivals another elite receiver we’ll have to deal with.

Still, this isn’t a disaster scenario. Texas A&M sits in third place behind Georgia, but their top targets all seem to be trending towards LSU, who ranks no. 6. There’s a small handful of players LSU, Texas A&M and Auburn are fighting for. Neither three school will sign them all, so neither will surpass Georgia’s class.
