Georgia football hosted the no. 1 running back in the nation this past weekend. is he all hype, or is this guy the real deal?

Anytime a top-notch running back is on the UGA campus, you better take notice. Georgia football is Running Back U, but that’s been particularly true during the Kirby Smart era where four running backs have reached 1,000 yards, including at least one every season. And with both Super Bowl teams featuring former Bulldogs starting at running back, every top RB prospect in the nation should at least consider Georgia.

The top running back prospect in the nation visited Georgia over the weekend, Houston, Texan Zachary Evans of Northshore High School. Exactly what kind of player is Evans? Let’s check out the game film to find out.

If D’Andre Swift really is gone after the 2019 season, this is a guy I really want the Bulldogs to sign. His style of play is very reminiscent of Swift. He makes some ridiculous cuts and can stop and go at an instant. But he also displays some power between tackles and against defenders one-on-one. Evans certainly isn’t a scat back, but he’s one of players that opponents might mistake for one. Which of course plays into his advantage.

He’s also a good receiver out of the backfield and has great vision. His eyes stay downfield at all times. He does a good job at running through holes at the line of scrimmage, but if no hole opens up, he seems to have no problem knowing where to run to gain positive yardage.

This is a player the Georgia’s coaches will recruit very aggressively. He is exactly what the coaches seem to want from running backs; a total package. Not someone who’s good at just one thing, but can play a variety of roles, whether he comes off the bench as a change of pace back, or takes six or seven handoffs on one drive.
