Georgia football adds transfer receiver Lawrence Cager
Georgia football continues to add weapons for Jake Fromm after signing day with Lawrence Cager joining the Dawgs on Friday.
Kirby Smart isn’t resting on his laurels. The Georgia football head coach has continued to be busy after signing day, bringing in two graduate transfers in to help his offense. Not long after signing day was over, UGA added Eli Wolf from Tennessee. Today they brought in a second senior weapon to help out their 2019 team.
Lawrence Cager is a big bodied receiver out of Miami. A senior who has graduated, Cager like Wolf, Cager has decided to transfer to UGA for his final season of eligibility. He put together the best season of his career last season, accounting for over 300 yards and more importantly, 6 touchdowns.
Standing at over 6ft5 tall, Cager is a natural weapon in the end zone. He’s got a huge frame and is the big-bodied type of receiver that Jake Fromm has traditionally liked throwing back shoulder throws to. With Riley Ridley going pro, that’s a role that UGA is going to need to be filled in 2019. Cager should be able to step in and provide a solid weapon for UGA in his final season in college football.
This is a big win for Georgia. Cager is just going to be on campus for one year so he’s not going to take up a scholarship for long. Kirby Smart likes to bring in grad transfers like this every year and he does really feel like they can bring something to the team. Hopefully, Cager has a similar impact to Javon Wims who played his way into the NFL in his senior season in Athens. He certainly gives Cortez Hankton another talented player to work with and Fromm another weapon for his Junior year.
