Elijah Holyfield had a stellar junior season on the Georgia football team and he’s going into the NFL Combine looking to impress.

Georgia football is sending another running back to the NFL Combine. This years its Elijah Holyfield, the son of a former heavyweight boxing champion gets his chance to show off in Indianapolis. As a Dawg fan, that makes this weekend even more exciting to watch.

Unlike last year where Nick Chubb and Sony Michel were already considered to be top ranked running backs, Holyfield has something to prove this week. His career got off to a slow start due to injury but he really came into his own in his junior season. He rushed for over 1000 yards this year despite being the 1B option on the team behind D’Andre Swift.

Holtfield has a reputation of being a bruising running back and it’s well deserved. When you watch him play, he runs over defenders with ease from a wide variety of positions. It’s what makes him so exciting to watch. But Holyfield is more than just a power back. Holyfield actually lost weight in his junior season, he slimmed down to around 215lbs. Now don’t get me wrong, that’s 215lbs of serious muscle but it’s less than people think. Despite his reputation, when you watch him on film, Holyfield is actually swifter and more complete as a running back than people think.

The Combine is an opportunity for him to show some athletic traits that some might not have noticed. I wouldn’t be shocked to see him put in a solid 40 time and you know hes going to crush the bench press. Not many people at UGA outworked Holyfield and I have no doubt that hes going to impress teams this weekend.
