Georgia football has multiple players at the NFL Combine right now and Issac Nauta is looking to impress NFL teams with his potential.

Going into the NFL Draft Combine, Issac Nauta has the opportunity to show scouts why he was one of the few tight ends to be given a 5-star rating. While he is unlikely to be a 1st round pick in April’s Draft, Nauta left the Georgia football team after a very successful three years. He built a strong rapport with two QBs and was a fantastic outlet in his final season in Athens.

Nauta might now have lived up to the 5-star hype that he brought in but a lot of that was due to circumstance. Georgia is and will forever under Kirby Smart be a run first offense. If they can beat teams on the ground they will and in most games, they’re good enough. Nauta saw increased action this year and his rapport with Jake Fromm grew.  As the year went on he became increasingly valuable to the Dawgs and he deserves a lot of credit for growing as a player.

He’s not the biggest tight end in the country but Nauta is a natural at the position. He really improved his blocking this season and it’s going to be exciting to see him at the next level. If he goes to a team that is looking for a do-it-all TE then he should fit right in. Unlike some pass catchers, Nauta had to block to see the field in Athens. Hes very capable of doing both and having a long NFL career.

I think what stands out to me about this years draft class from Georgia is how solid it is. There don’t appear to be many so called stars but its littered with solid players who should have long careers because of their intangibles and talent. That’s not always a given and it’s helped me appreciate this group more than I did when they left. Nauta has a chance this weekend to show that there’s more in the tank than he showed at UGA. I look forward to see him do just that.
