Georgia football has sent a lot of players to the NFL Combine this weekend and several are now drawing some NFL draft analysts attention.
It’s always nice to hear people in the NFL business rave about Georgia football players. With the NFL Combine now starting, UGA have lots of players drawing attention. While they don’t have the big names of Roquan Smith, Nick Chubb and Sony Michel this year, the Dawgs might have even more players drafted this year than they did last. Their draft class really is very deep in 2019.
With the Combine starting, several NFL Draft experts have started to mention more and more UGA players. This morning while I was heading to work, I listened to the Move the Sticks podcast with Daniel Jeramiah and Bucky Brooks. Both are former scouts in the pros and if you’re looking for a great podcast to learn a lot more about the personel side of football, I’d really recommend it.
On their most recent podcast, not one, not two but four UGA players were mentioned as guys to watch. Issac Nauta is drawing interest as a potential day 2 tight end and is expected to impress. Elijah Holyfield is a guy that they raved about as well. Mecole Hardman got a mention and Riley Ridley is a player that both really like. There seems to be a real shot that Ridley sneaks into the 1st round and that’s kind of crazy.
All of which makes it easy to see just how well Kirby is recruiting right now. This is a very talented group of players that teams a very interested in. They also aren’t quite as talented as some of the guys that are currently in Athens which is kind of surreal. Former NFL scouts are quite rightly getting drawn towards UGA players as they continue to churn out league ready players. That’s as good of a recruiting tool for Kirby Smart as there is.
