Elijah Holyfield

Scouting Report: Elijah Holyfield runs angry, and he’s an absolute load to bring down. He’s a power running back and generates that power from his lower body and pad level. He will absolutely abuse defenders if he is able to reach the second level. Although he is clearly a power back, he does possess a fair amount of craftiness to his game as well. He has shown the ability to make quick jump cuts in order to get to the edge, and his vision is solid.

His biggest issue is his speed. Holyfield recently ran a very underwhelming 4.79 40 in his first attempt at the combine, which was followed by an even worse 4.81 on his second attempt. He doesn’t have breakaway speed, but he does seem to have solid burst. Hard to determine if he can ever be a factor in the passing game, as he was rarely used in that area in Athens.

NFL Outlook: Holyfield will be bruising power back in the NFL. He likely won’t be an elite all-purpose back, but he can definitely contribute. He would fit well in a situation that allows him to split carries with another quicker and faster back. Holyfield could definitely be one half of a great running back duo.
