Georgia Football: NFL Draft projections for Dawgs post combine
Lamont Gaillard
Scouting Report: If you’re looking for experience and toughness, Gaillard is your man. He started 42 games for the Dawgs, and was a three-year starter. He does a great job of getting up to the linebackers on the second level. He keeps his pads low and stands his ground against bull rushes, despite his size. Very versatile, he can play anywhere on the interior of the line. His toughness and motor is matched by his extremely high football IQ.
Gaillard’s biggest knock is his size, as he comes in at 308 pounds. Because of that, it may be hard to pinpoint what blocking scheme fits him best. He may not have the size for a power running scheme but might also lack the lower body agility for a zone blocking scheme. Regardless of the scheme, Gaillard should be able to at least hold his own.
NFL Outlook: I am extremely high on Gaillard. His versatility, experience, and level of competition all work in his favor. He has all the tools needed to become a starting caliber interior offensive lineman sooner rather than later.
NFL Comparison: Brian de la Puente
Draft Projection: Rounds 3-4
