Georgia Basketball is building it’s best ever recruiting class with top 100 player Christian Brown committing to Tom Crean.

I don’t think I’ve ever been this excited about a UGA basketball team in my life. Tom Crean might have struggled on the court in his first season as Georgia Basketball head coach, but he continues to win off it. Crean landed his 4th top 100 player in the 2019 class yesterday in wing Christian Brown. Brown will join the nation’s number 2 player Anthony Edwards in signing with the Dawgs in April. Together, they will join Jaykwon Walton and Toumani Camara who have already signed to play in Athens.

All of these players are explosive and versatile wings. This season, the Dawgs really struggled with their guard play and athleticism on the outside. With all four of these guys arriving in Athens, things should be very different in Crean’s second season. Right now, UGA’s class is 6th in the entire country, an incredible achievement for a school that previously would be happy to sign one of these sorts of talents a year let alone four.

Brown might be the most explosive of the new arrivals other than Edwards. He’s certainly the one that is going to attack the basket the most. While he could play the same position as Walton and Camara, all of them have very different games which should make them a good fit to play together. Edwards should benefit from having so many athletic wings to play with who should help open up the floor for him. When you combine these new arrivals with the likes of Rayshaun Hammonds and Nicolas Claxton… Well, let’s just say 2020 is going to be exciting.

Next. When will we see Zeus this spring?. dark

Georgia Basketball fans deserve a lot of credit for showing out so well this past season. Despite the team’s obvious flaws, fans brought a great level of energy to Stegman this season and Crean has been able to sell that energy to these young players. Next season, fans will get to see not only a player in Edwards but a team more talented than any of us have likely seen since the Dominique Wilkins days. I for already cannot wait for next season to start.
