Georgia football continues its spring preparations there are only 18 days till the G-Day game. Some of the 2019 defensive members have already seemed to settle in and make some noise.

Three members of Georgia football’s  2019 class have already begun to make noise in spring practice.

Nolan Smith, Jermaine Johnson and Nakobe Dean don’t look like first-year players, but they are. These three guys show poise, effort, and determination that makes them stand out from the rest.

I got the privilege of going to practice this past Saturday and got to watch these three a good bit.

Nolan Smith

Smith doesn’t look like an 18-year-old kid. He looks like a grown man. Smith honestly looks like he is about 245-pounds of pure muscle.

More from Dawn of the Dawg

He was first in line in every drill, and coach Dan Lanning didn’t have anything negative for him. Lanning coached them up, and Smith soaked up the information like a sponge.

Smith was energetic and full of life on the football field, and he and Johnson seemed to be hitting it off and quite close with each other.

I cannot wait to see how Smith continues to develop in practice and see what squad he ends up on for G-day.

Jermaine Johnson

Johnson is a freak as well. His long arms and the strong frame immediately drew my eyes to him. I had to figure out who he was and I quickly did.

Right behind Smith in all the drills, Johnson looked like he had done this college football thing before and it was nothing new to him.

He looked to be 250 pounds as well and made those pads look tiny. Johnson is smooth throughout the drills and smart.

However, it was his and Smith’s efforts that made me go ‘wow.’ Both of them were itching to go first and wanting to learn from Lanning.

I could tell the coach liked that because he had the usual pep in his step but a slightly crooked smile to him as well. Lanning has two exceptional players in Smith and Johnson, and it is already showing this spring.

The interesting question will be if Lanning decides to pair these two up on the same spring squad or separate them to see how they do.

Nakobe Dean

Six words for Nakobe Dean after laying eyes on him Saturday, “Holy crap, He is a Freak!”

That young man is a monster. He looked so powerful and so quick on the field that he doesn’t look like a freshman at all. Dean was one of the fastest in the inside linebacker group.

He is so smart as well, picking up on the drills and executing them without any issues. Dean doesn’t look like he was playing high school football four months ago. He looks like at least a sophomore out there.

Dean is one I’m going to keep a look out for the rest of spring and heading into fall camp. He looked so good it wouldn’t surprise me if he didn’t see the field early this year if not start come game one of the season.

Locked and Loaded with G-day approaching

Georgia has an abundance of talent on the defensive side of things and these three are just the start of it.

G-day is on April 20 with kick off at 2 p.m. ET on the SEC Network.
