Georgia football finished with 247Sports No. 2 overall class in 2019. Now the Bulldogs look to reclaim the top spot from Alabama in 2020. Here are three names to know that could end up in Georgia’s 2020 class.

According to 247Sports Composite 2020 team rankings, Georgia football has the No. 12 overall recruiting class and the No. 5 in the SEC.

The Bulldogs are already off to a hot start with five commitments.

Georgia already found its quarterback for 2020 with Carson Beck and then it has two defensive tackles, one offensive tackle, and a wide receiver.

The Bulldogs still have a long way to go, but there guys to keep an eye out for as the 2020 class gets ready for the camp season.

Two names to know that I think will end up with Georgia are Arik Gilbert and Tate Ratledge.

Arik Gilbert

Gilbert is a five-star tight end from Marietta, Georgia.  He is 6-5.5 and 240 pounds.

According to 247Sports Composite rankings, he ranks as the No. 11 overall player, the No. 1 TE and the No. 2 prospect in the state of Georgia.

Gilbert currently holds 27 offers including ones from Georgia, Clemson, Alabama, Oklahoma, and many others.

He is a pure athlete, a natural at the game of football. However, despite having the size of a defensive end, Gilbert wanted to play tight end. At 6-5 he is a big target and the fact that he has the speed to match it impresses even more.

According to his 247Sports profile, he runs a 4.83 forty-yard dash. He is raw but talented at everything he does. Gilbert can catch the ball consistently and will always be a mismatch at tight end.

He isn’t perfect by any means, but he has the natural ability with the right development to be great.

I like Georgia’s chances here because he is an in-state kid that has always seemed to like the Dawgs. Gilbert is the size that Georgia needs at tight end and can give Fromm, if Fromm stays his senior year, a huge target to throw to.

The Bulldogs need someone like Gilbert in this class because he is a competitor and likes to compete until he is the best. He visited Georgia back on Feb. 18, and I expect him to be back on campus for the G-Day game on April 20.

I almost want to put him in my class prediction, but will wait to see if he shows up to G-day or not and how often you see him around Georgia players or coming to campus. Right now I would say there is an 8/10 chance he commits to the Bulldogs.

Tate Ratledge

Ratledge is a four-star offensive tackle. Georgia already has Broderick Jones, but can always use another talented offensive lineman.

He is a 6-6 306-pound offensive tackle from Rome, Georgia.

According to 247Sports Composite rankings, he ranks as the No. 39 overall player, the No. 4 OT and the No. 5 prospect in Georgia. On the 247Sports website, he is considered a four-star.

Ratledge currently holds 13 offers with the latest coming from Penn State on March 1.

He has excellent footwork and knows how to use his big body. Ratledge possesses above average strength and is patient with his blocks.

The son of a coach can either mean two things, he’s coachable, or he’s been given everything in sports. In my opinion, he is a coachable tackle that will have some adjusting to do from a small school to a Power 5 program. However, if anyone can do it, then it’s Ratledge.

With the right development, he could turn into an All-American in college and have a long career in the NFL. Only time will tell with Ratledge, and I like the upside he has to him.

Right now it seems to be between Georgia and Tennessee. However, I think Georgia has the upper hand with offensive line coach Sam Pittman.

The last visit he took was to Georgia on Feb. 23. Ratledge seemed to have a great time, and Pittman only got into his head more. There isn’t another o-line coach in the SEC right now that can develop players the way Pittman can, and that should be the biggest selling point for Ratledge.

Right now I would say that Ratledge commits to the Dawgs. I would give that prediction a 7/10 on a confidence scale.

What’s next for Georgia?

It’s early in the 2020 recruiting cycle for the Bulldogs, but that doesn’t mean the coaches aren’t hot on these two players tails and many other prospects.

Some other names to know are Len’Neth Whitehead, Zachary Evans, Jordan Burch, Myles Murphy, Mekhail Sherman, Kendall Milton, and Justin Rogers.

These are guys that all seem to like Georgia but need to visit some more before I become more confident in them joining the 2020 recruiting class.

However, I believe that things are starting to pick up for the Dawgs. It’ll only be a matter of time before the Dawgs add the next member of the 2020 class.
