Georgia football’s annual G-day is finally here. Can head coach Kirby Smart mimic 93K day for 2019? With such a jam-packed weekend, the program could make history again.

G-day is  Saturday, April 20th for Georgia football. The annual spring game between the red and the black squads that Georgia fans can see in Sanford Stadium for free.

Two years ago, in his first year as head coach, Kirby Smart challenged Bulldog Nation to show up and come to the scrimmage. Well, the fans answered and thus the birth of 93K Day it was.

That first G-day in Smart’s era was incredible. People lined up anywhere they could just to see this spring game.

The university stated there were 93,000 people there, but in my opinion, it was closer to 96,000 because people lined the walkways, the corridors going up to the upper deck. There wasn’t another available spot in that massive stadium.

In Smart’s second year, according to Dawg Nation’s website, there were 66,133 people in attendance.

For 2018, Georgia had 82,184 fans attend, the second most in the country.  Nebraska had the most with 86,818 fans.

Now the Bulldogs look to mimic last years numbers or go above and beyond that. Georgia has an abundance of recruits coming for G-Day this year, and like in the past three springs, it has helped the Bulldogs out a ton.

By seeing the fans come out for a spring game shows prospects how a game day atmosphere can be like on a Saturday. Not to mention how much Georgia fans love their football.

Now I’m not saying Smart, and his staff needs 93,000 people there for recruits to have a good time, but it’ll only help the situation out even more.

Georgia released the red and black squad rosters Friday afternoon, and now fans can pick which side they want to win the scrimmage.

With the addition of G-day is the annual letterman flag football game before the current Dawgs taking the field. According to Georgia’s website, more than 50 former Bulldogs are taking the field for the lettermen’s game.

That is just one of the many things going on this weekend. Georgia’s baseball team also has a series with Missouri this weekend fans can check out while in town.

G-Day will air on the SEC Network Saturday, April 20 at 2 p.m. ET for those fans who cannot make the trek to Athens. Georgia’s red and black squads look to square off and see who wins steak dinners or beanie weenies along with bragging rights all year.
