You need a hero

Pitching and defense are the back bone of any great team, but to go deep into the post season, a team must have a few surprises and a hero or two at the plate.

For the 2018 Georgia baseball team, the hero will come from the middle of the Dawgs batting order of Aaron Schunk, LJ Talley, and when facing right-handed pitching, John Cable.

Schunk, Talley, and Cable went 23 for 41 against Alabama. Cable also had a homer and his fourth 4-RBI game of the season to go with a 5 for 5 Friday night and 8 for 10 across Friday and Saturday’s finale.

“S” for surprise

For surprises, Patrick Sullivan and Cam Shepherd are prime candidates. While both struggled this season, Shepherd batted .275 across the last two weekends to raise his season average to 232. He also hit two homeruns, giving him six on the season. Sullivan batted .454 across the last two weekends to raise his season average to 277. Sullivan added a homerun to his total as well to give him a season total of three.
