Georgia football is the unofficial Running Back University of college football. If the Dawgs want to up this title, the next piece is Kendall Milton.
Kendall Milton announced to Twitter on May 17 that Georgia football was one of his final four schools.
The other three schools are LSU, Ohio State, and Alabama. All four schools have rich histories of talented running backs, so wherever Milton chooses to go, he will have a successful career in college and on into the NFL.
According to 247Sports, Milton ranks as the No. 21 overall player, the No. 3 RB, and the No. 4 prospect in California. He stands at 6-2 and 220 pounds, yes you read that correctly. To be that big, Milton runs a 4.76 40-yard dash and looks faster than that in the game.
Georgia’s offense would compliment the hell out of Milton’s running style, I mean Kirby Smart built this offense for a running back like him.
Don’t get me wrong; the Bulldogs have the most talented running back room in the country, Milton would be the cherry on top, a running back type that the Dawgs hadn’t seen in a while.
But Milton is a rare breed of running back, his size alone is of an inside linebacker.
He is a big back who has a unique blend of power, speed, and balance. Milton’s shifty for a running back of his stature. However, the best thing about him is his balance and ability to take a hit.
Milton can take hits and not lose his base and can get significant yards after the first contact. The best way to describe him is a Cadillac bruiser.
Georgia has its fair share of bruisers and speedy backs, however, I think Milton would be one of a kind, and I believe that is what makes him so appealing to running back coach Dell McGee.
He is so smooth when he runs, and he can barrel over people without missing a beat. Milton is unique, and I remember talking with him in an interview and him telling me that McGee thought he was the best running back in the country, regardless of class.
I expect him to take four official visits to his final schools and then make a decision by football season. To me, Milton seems like the kid that wants to focus on football and have his mind made up to enjoy his senior year.
I like Georgia’s chances here. Milton wants to go somewhere where the running back history is plentiful, and all four schools are full of that history. In the NFL right now, the four teams have a combined 22 running backs in the league.
The argument could go on and on, but Georgia is the best fit for him. D’Andre Swift could be gone after this season and Brian Herrien graduates, allowing Milton to compete with James Cook, Zamir White, and Kenny McIntosh for playing time.
If Georgia got Milton, the Bulldogs would have the trifecta of running backs with scatback Cook, power and speed back White, and Cadillac bruiser Milton. Regardless, Georgia would be able to find a way to run the ball and do it successfully.
