Dawg hunting

Three Mercer seniors no doubt relish the thought of dispatching the Big Dawg in Athens Town.

Senior Kevin Coulter took over as the Bears Friday starter in mid-season and is 5 – 2 with a 3.95 ERA. If the Bears can bang out a lead, expect to see the save leader, senior Nick Spear, try to add to his total of nine. Spear’s ERA isn’t flashy at 3.38, but he only walked 16 while striking out 63 in 53 innings pitched this season.

On offense, the Bears will look to senior Kel Johnson. Johnson’s 22 homeruns and .629 slugging percentage far outpace his teammates.

If the Georgia baseball team can squash the dreams of these three seniors Friday night, the  Dawgs could face the NCAA sentimental favorite, Mike Martin’s FSU Seminoles.
